Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slammed the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh over alleged incidents of violence during the recently concluded block head elections. Rahul Gandhi alleged that in Uttar Pradesh, violence has been renamed “masterstroke”.
Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday called out the Uttar Pradesh government over the alleged incidents of violence and misbehaviour with women reported during the recently concluded block head elections.
In a tweet in Hindi, Rahul Gandhi said that in Uttar Pradesh, violence has been renamed “masterstroke”. Congress’s Uttar Pradesh General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra alleged that the BJP had “crossed” all limits to stop the nomination of a woman in the polls.
“A few years ago, a rape victim raised her voice against a BJP MLA and an attempt was made to kill her and her family. Today, the BJP crossed all limits to stop the nomination of a woman. Same government. Same behaviour,” she said in a tweet in Hindi.
She was allegedly referring to an incident in Lakhimpur Kheri on Thursday when a Samajwadi Party candidate was allegedly manhandled by BJP workers, after which six policemen were suspended with the administration ordering a magisterial probe.
Earlier in a tweet on July 8, Priyanka Gandhi had shared a video and claimed that the BJP workers were indulging in violence, stopping candidates from filing nomination, and misbehaving with women and journalists.
