Muslim woman attacked in Madrid for wearing Hijab

Madrid (Spain). A group of young men who beat and irritated a Muslim woman in an Islamophobic attack in Madrid City are reportedly put under investigation.

The woman was attacked outside the Usera Metro station by the young men. Having been injured by several blows on the face and body, the woman was taken to hospital in an emergent condition. The fear of the attack further deteriorated the woman’s body condition.

According to El Mundo’s report, the attack is being treated as a hate crime against Muslims. The Diversity Management Unit of Madrid’s police force is investigating the case. The unit’s main mission is to investigates any act of intolerance and discrimination in Madrid. This includes criminal acts or other normal incidents.

The woman says that she was assaulted and beaten harshly by the young men. She believes the reason behind the attack was her wearing hijab and having a Muslim outlook. The incident was reproached and condemned by various official and politicians, but no measure was taken to avoid more similar attacks after the recent rising Islamophobic air in the country.

José Luis Martínez-Almeida, a spokesman for Madrid’s Municipal People’s Group, condemned the attack calling it inhumane in a post on Twitter. “We condemn the sexist aggression suffered yesterday. Madrid will always be an open and cosmopolitan city,” he wrote.

Recently, some “xenophobic and Islamophobia” banners were also hung on a building in Madrid. The building is the headquarters of Hogar Social group, a neo-Nazi community in the country. The recent terrorist attacks in Madrid and other Spanish cities, which was claimed by ISIS, provided the chance for anti-Muslim groups to fire up the hate crimes against the Muslim citizens of Spain. This is while America and Britain are considered the founder and supporter of ISIS in the Middle East.
